Do you want to go on vacation with a van equipped with a baby? Don’t panic, it’s entirely possible! With a few precautions, you can have a great trip with a toddler. Here are some tips for you that can help you better organize and manage your road trip.
What to do before traveling in a van with a baby?
Before departure, be sure to gather all the items that may be needed during the trip: nappies, clothes, toys, comforters, pacifiers, etc.
If baby drinks his milk lukewarm, you can equip yourself with a bottle warmer that you can plug into the cigarette lighter. If it is rather at the stage of small pots, the bottle warmer will also prove to be very useful and will allow you to warm the pot by doing it a little more in advance.
Even if you can easily cook in a van, choose dishes and snacks that are easy to transport. All the converted vehicles that you can rent from VAN-IT have compression refrigerators or coolers. This allows you to store meals, throughout your stay, without any risk for the child. In any case, during your road trip in a camper van, don’t be surprised if your baby’s eating habits change. The road opens the appetite!
Where to install baby in a converted van?
You can install baby with an adapted car seat on the back seat of the van. The 4 or 5 seater vans have 2 or 3 belts at the back where you can attach the car seat. VAN-IT offers you to install a car seat for more simplicity (see options). On 3-seater vehicles, there are no seat belts in the back and you will therefore be entitled to install the baby seat in the front, next to you, on the passenger seat. Plus, light jolts from the road are often a great way to rock it. Putting baby to sleep in a van becomes relatively easy. However, be sure to take regular breaks if you have a toddler. This will allow you to get him some fresh air, while entertaining him, so that the return to the van goes as smoothly as possible. In case of rain, you can create small play areas, at the back of the van, so that he can also have fun.
A journey in a good mood
During your van trip, stay close to your child. During the hours when your baby will be awake, plan small developmental games with him. Also entrust him with objects to manipulate, give him stuffed animals, his favorite stuffed animals, etc… Singing songs or listening to music are also excellent ideas to entertain a toddler and make the journey in the van pleasant. When you feel that your baby is tired, let him fall asleep and try, as much as possible, to give yourself moments of rest at the same time as him. Traveling in a van with a baby is therefore not impossible, quite the contrary!
Be sure: with good organization, you can go on vacation with a baby in peace. Good road with VAN-IT!
