What a great adventure to cross the Pyrenees in a camper van!
From Toulouse, head first to Pamier to hike the 7.5km Sentier d’Arvigna or take the 11.4km Bird Walk. These two circuits will allow you to see exceptional panoramas. Then go and taste the coco de Pamiers and the Ariège cassoulet, a local specialty made from round beans, typical of the Ariège valley.
Continue your Pyrenean roadtrip to the Pyrenees Ariège Regional Natural Park. Breathtaking viewpoints await you in Aleu or Ayens. Then go to the unmissable sites of Arbu, the Pic des Trois Seigneurs, Balagué or even Bassiès. Stop at the park houses at the Icart farm and the Valier house, which showcase local gastronomy.
Then go to Boutx for a well-being break at the Solayan lodge at 1100 meters above sea level in the heart of the mountains with a spa area, with heated indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and Nordic bath. In Saint Lary Soulan find the authenticity of the Pyrenean villages, and discover the cultural and gastronomic heritage of the Aure Valley. Take the Pic Lumière cable car if you want to enjoy the slopes.
Then head to the Grand Tourmalet pic du midi for a sliding session with its 5 resorts: Bagnères de Bigorre, Around Bagnères, La Vallée de Campan, La Mongie and Barèges. Once the tracks have been explored, head to the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido, the second oldest park in Spain declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997, including the Pineta Valley, the Escuain Gorge and the Canyon of Anisclo ideal for climbing or hiking.
Don’t miss the Gavarnie natural circus, a splendid amphitheater of glacial limestone, for a fascinating short walk!
