Fishing: technique and regulations

Fishing what is it exactly?

It is an activity that consists of capturing aquatic animals, especially fish, using different techniques. This activity can also appeal to adults and children. Everyone has their own fishing technique according to the place and the fishing technique of their preference: along rivers, lakes and rivers… You can settle down serenely in a small place while waiting for the catch or the catch.

Many varieties of fish live in fresh water or at sea: pike, carp, trout, roach, rudd, tench, perch, catfish, barbel, zander… There is something for everyone.

You must still comply with the regulations in force.For example, you need a mandatory fishing license, which is very valuable for the country’s environment. Also, the practice of fishing is prohibited during certain periods… It is necessary to inquire well before leaving on an adventure because in certain places, the practice of night fishing is formally prohibited. These dates are established mainly according to the reproduction cycles of the species concerned.

Brief reminder of the main river fishing techniques

  • Coarse fishing

This basic technique is applied in calm plain waters: ponds, lakes, ponds, slow-flowing rivers, ponds, rivers, canals and pools. It is one of the most traditional forms of fishing and the most suitable for discovering the pleasures. In practice, you attract the fish using bait on the spot, called a “blow”. Baiting consists of making the fish come on their way. The goal is to deceive them. Nowadays, we use many possibilities such as the use of seeds, various liquids, flours, flakes… to achieve this result. Coarse fishing is primarily intended to catch freshwater fish such as carp, gudgeon, roach, bleak and bream. A beginner angler needs a telescopic pole 3 to 6 m long to facilitate its handling. Some ranges are equipped with a clip at the end of the tip to simplify line attachment.

  • Waggler pellet fishing

This technique is practiced with a long leaded feather which facilitates casting. This is casting fishing, which allows you to reach more beautiful and big fish near the edge. It is performed on a very mobile surface and requires constant vigilance. It requires a long rod to control the trajectory of the line. You prime between five and ten seconds three or four pellets at a time and then you propel the pellet waggler into that stream. This technique is dedicated to catching many fish: rudd, brown trout, roach, rainbow trout and tench.

  • Line fishing

New anglers most often use angling, it is easy to use. It can be practiced anywhere, in a boat, on a wharf, on the edge of a shore, where fishing is permitted.

This technique consists of provoking the fish through movement. Practically, you cast your line equipped with a bait and a lure. After the cast, you let it take the desired depth, then you bring it back to you. This operation is repeated all around.

  • Feeder fishing

Feeder fishing is almost identical to waggler fishing. However, it is simpler and less expensive.

  • Fly fishing

Fly fishing requires silk as fishing line as well as artificial flies as lure. It is often practiced in rivers or on the surface, because the flies work perfectly in the current. You cast, then retrieve your line with a repetitive, smooth whipping motion to trick your target into thinking the fly is real.

  • Tenkara fishing (Japanese foam fishing)

Tenkara is a traditional Japanese fly fishing technique, developed for catching char and trout and in mountain streams. This technique provides many advantages:

    • Better fly control precision;
    • low overall size and weight;
    • ease of use ;
    • compact.

In fact, mobility, lightness and simplicity are all words that characterize tenkara fishing.
