19 April 2022

Departing from our agency located in Alès, you can board one of our converted vans and set off to discover the many treasures of Occitania.

In Alès itself, you can see a show at Le Cratère theatre, go to the PAB museum or the Colombier museum to admire works of art or even teach your children or yourself about archeology. For the more curious, the Rousson Prehistorama, the Scribe Museum in Saint-Christol or the little tourist train from Alès will take you to the heart of the region’s heritage. For gourmets, many local products from the region await you, from charcuterie, to seasonal vegetables and fruits, including goat cheese, good honey, not to mention sumptuous wines.

Then go to the Pôle Mécanique 10 minutes north of Alès to go karting, quad biking or even climb aboard sports cars if you are a thrill seeker. A few kilometers from the mechanical pole, you can visit the miner’s house. Formerly a place known for extracting coal, the miner’s house immerses you in the working atmosphere of yesteryear.

For nature lovers, take a detour west to Saint Germain de Calberte to enjoy the Cévennes National Park and its 2700 km2. The park welcomes you day and night for the beauty of its environment, the fauna and flora, but also for the beauty of the starry sky reputed to be the purest in France. Exceptional night landscapes! Awareness actions are offered to make you aware of light pollution.

Then leave for Génolhac, one hour north of Alès and don’t miss the charming medieval town, and the many nearby villages to discover during your walks: Aujac, a village grouped around its Romanesque church with a comb bell tower, and its magnificent medieval castle, Concoules and its church which is a real gem of local art, Sénéchas…

Then head to Saint André de Cruzières 50 minutes east for some hiking. Three marked circuits are available to you:

– A short circuit (3.5 km and 1h30): Les Résurgences from Chadouillet to Côtepatière

– A medium circuit (8.3 km and 2h30): Between vineyards and scrubland, departing from the Village towards Lacroix via the balsam of Tegoul and returning via the Chapelette

– A long circuit (14.3 km for 4h30): La Sarrasine, departing from the village towards La Sarrasine, then returning by the old railway line and Chadouillet.

Take the opportunity to find a spot to park at night and still admire the starry sky.

The next day, go 30 minutes south, 25 km east of Alès, at Mont Bouquet you can do nature activities, namely paragliding and climbing with more than 300 routes on the cliff of Seynes . Then head to the medieval town of Vézénobres 30 minutes south-west of Mont Bouquet, a village uphill on a rocky outcrop with plenty of breathtaking views. Note that the medieval city is fabulous to visit for two reasons, the first is its fabulous architecture, but also because it is home to a superb conservatory fig tree orchard with more than a thousand trees…

Then continue to Anduze, 20 minutes to the west, discover a charming town with a historic past, where you can retrace history through the streets and monuments in a fun way thanks to the puzzle sheets. Note that this activity may be suitable for children from four to twelve years old. Do not hesitate to contact the information office of the city.

Finish in Saint-Jean-du-Gard 15 minutes west for hiking, river swimming, fishing and other outdoor activities… You can educate your children about sustainable development, with the area natura 2000 which hosts protected animal and plant species thanks to specific activities for the whole family. There is no shortage of activities in the Cévennes park and taking this van road trip is the perfect solution to get around, fully enjoy the landscapes and your van adventure will leave you with fantastic memories.
